Virginia Personal Injury Lawyers
A new initiative by the Albemarle County Office of Emergency Management aims to help educate residents about fire safety, natural disasters and more.
The program, which is called Community Emergency Response Team Training, is a nine-week course running from March 12 to May 7, held at 6:30 to 9 PM every Thursday night.
In this course, community members will get some of the same types of information that first responders use to manage emergencies well. Elements of this include search-and-rescue protocols and emergency medical care, as well as the organization of emergency resources. According to the office’s web site:
“CERT is a positive and realistic approach to emergency and disaster situations recognized that citizens will be initially on their own and their actions can make a difference.”
This free training will allow residents to better understand how to pitch in when a first responder isn’t around to help with all sorts of emergencies that may affect a community.
The Value of Local Community Initiatives
Programs like these are part of what public planners can do to protect the health and safety of residents in the community.
We all know that there are a lot of safety challenges that we just can’t plan for 100 percent. We have to be ready to deal with them as they arise. Just like with cyber security or any other kind of security or safety program, municipal governments and communities need to both act effectively to prevent safety hazards and train to respond to those that may be unforeseen or unanticipated. Certifications and training programs like CERT help achieve these goals in a practical way.
Personal Injury Attorneys in the Community
Personal injury law firms seek to provide resources for victims of all sorts of accidents that may happen outside of anyone’s control or may be partially caused by negligence or inattention to public safety. These professional attorneys have to look at each case on its own and do extensive research to determine whether any third-party responsibility applies. In general, injury lawyers in the community work to have their clients’ interests served in a court of law and to get the best chance of settlements or court awards to help the victim’s family manage finances in the future.
